Welcome to my blog, Pastels n’ Pink! As you can see I adore pastel colours and especially the colour pink! On my blog I want to be able to share with you how I decor my bedroom, how I find my antique looking decor and how I customize them. For example, in the photo below, I painted each of the items (not including figures). I will also be posting a video on my youtube channel showing how I paint some of my wall shelves! I purchased the faux wolf head at Winners/Homesense in town, but you can also purchase these on WallCharmers.com ! The two shelves I purchased at the thrift store. A lot of items in my room are from a local thrift store or I received them from family. So, if you have a local thrift store where you live, I suggest taking a look there. You can find some amazing treasures there!
Here is another treasure I found at the local thrift store! This beautiful piece of art was only $15! If you look closely you can see that this was cross stitched by hand. It is a little sad seeing something so beautiful and someones hard work only going for fifteen dollars but, I am happy it is in my hands now, because I will take good care of it! I also did not paint the frame, it already came pink, which was a huge bonus! As you can also see in this photo I love to read manga! So if interested at all, maybe I will make a blog about my collections as well!
On March 1st 2020, I went on a class trip to Toronto, Ontario for a conference at Corus Entertainment and tours of CBC and Techicolor.
Day One
We arrived in Toronto around 3 or 4 and the first thing we did was go to our Air bnb (which was amazing). We split into groups and went to do our own things. Our group started off with going to get some alcohol and snacks. When we were done we went for ramen…and oh my goodness…it was the most amazing thing I have ever tasted. It was my first time ever eating authentic ramen and I miss it so much! Day one was just a relaxing day and it was time for us to get settled in.

Day Two
This was the day we went to our conference at Corus Entertainment. It was interesting and fun to meet people in the broadcasting and radio industry. For most of the day we spent it going to different tables with specific topics that interested us and we talked to the people that were hosting each table. The three tables I went to were, Meet the Managers, Media Marketing, and Media Newbies. Every table had interesting people and it was cool to meet these people that have been doing these jobs for so long. They gave us advice and answered any questions we may of had.
Once the conference was over we went on a tour of Corus Entertainment. That building is amazing. It was big and had creative things all around, for example, there was a giant slide that people could go down and huge wall with living plants on it! Other then the beautiful architecture, we got to see radio stations! We even went behind the scenes to one of the radio shows while it was on air.
A few of us decided to go to the Eaton Center and holy moly that mall is huge. Over priced as heck but it was cool to see it! A group of us went shopping for a couple hours and decided to head back but we took the wrong bus and it ended up taking us over an hour to get home. It was funny but, it was a fun little adventure.
Once we finally got back we went to a bar close by. It was fun to hang out with everyone, dance, and have a few drinks.

Day Three
Day three was a long day! We toured CBC and Technicolor. Both places were interesting and it was cool to see the giant studios in CBC. Technicolor showed us what their work stations looked like which was awesome! The tours went on for a few hours and once those were done we headed to the CN tour. This was my first time ever going to the CN tower and I thought it was the coolest thing. It wasn’t busy at all because it was raining all day and foggy but miraculously the sun came out once we got to the top and we captured some beautiful pictures of the sun setting, peaking through the clouds. We got lucky. After seeing the beautiful view we went to the aquarium! It was really cute seeing all the fish and sharks.

Day Four
Day four was the day we got to do what ever we wanted because it was our last day in Toronto! But we slept in. We didn’t get to do too much because of how long we slept but when we finally headed out we stopped at a cute little Japanese store. We walked down Queen Street and looked in any stores that seemed interesting to us. Once everyone was done doing their own thing we all went to the Mandarin for the Deans Dinner. It was a fun and relaxing day!
My Overall Experience
Going to Toronto with my class and teachers was one of the best experiences I have had in my life. It was fun to be around such a great group of people and create many more memories with them. I will forever cherish this trip because I feel like it brought us all closer together. I felt like I learned so much more about the industry and seeing all of the potential places to work was inspiring! Before this trip I was always hesitant about ever living in Toronto, but afterwards I fell in love with it and I hope to maybe live there one day.
This past semester, myself and two other class mates created a documentary called Enemy Aliens. It is a documentary about a family that was affected by the internment camps in Canada. This semester was stressful but exciting and a great learning experience. Although our group ran into some problems along the way we were able to create a documentary in the end.
When creating a mini documentary you need to make sure you plan ahead with the direction of the documentary, who you will be interviewing (if you plan to interview), and regular meetings with your crew to make sure everyone is up to date. While making Enemy Aliens we ran into issues with planning to meet up with people, getting information that was crucial for our doc and very little b-roll to work with.
One of the first problems we ran into was trying to find a date that worked for us and the researchers that were willing to help us with information on internment camps in Canada. It took us over a month to find a date that worked for us both, which set us back a lot. A second issue was when we went to our local museum to get photos for our doc. There was a miscommunication about the prices of the photos and we found out it was $15 per photo when we originally thought it was $15 for all photos. We had over 50 photos that we wanted but had to cut it down to 10. That was a huge set back and we ended up having to retrieve photos on the Canadian Archives, meaning we were not able to post our doc anywhere when it was finished, due to copyright. Lastly, the person we interviewed was not comfortable at all with being filmed, but was fine with being voice recorded. This wasn’t a huge problem, it just made it extremely difficult to find photos to go over the voice over.
Overall, make sure you are prepared and you will run into problems that you will have to work around. We ran into some stressful issues but in the end everything worked out and we were able to create Enemy Aliens.
